You can read about how to make your digital workplace a safe workplace in the previous blog. In the last blog of this series on modern working, you can read about IT support and the importance of the right knowledge, so that every employee can use their workplace carefree and successfully.
Almost every IT infrastructure consists of servers, networks, security, storage and management systems. Employees use PCs, laptops, tablets and telephones to work at different times and from different locations. All in all, IT has (become) quite complex for many companies. All components must be in close contact with each other to work together smoothly. Unfortunately, this does not always go well.
To maintain employee productivity (and good tempers), it is important that they receive help quickly in the event of malfunctions and problems. This can be done with first-line support, for example. IT specialists who are ready to help your employees. They can log in remotely and can be reached by email, telephone or chat. For IT problems that cannot be solved quickly, it is good to be able to call on second-line support. IT specialists who can take a deep dive into the problem and find a solution no matter what. This way you can turn your modern workplace into a carefree workplace.
Then there is something else. Companies often have an excellently equipped IT toolbox, with the necessary (cloud) solutions and licences. Licences that, mind you, cost a fair amount of money every month. And for good reason, because they often give you access to the most fantastic solutions. The question is: do you have enough in-house knowledge to make maximum use of that great software? Do you really need everything? And perhaps even more importantly, does everyone want to work with it, or are some people still secretly using the old solution (‘because that works just as well’)?
For example, when you mention Microsoft 365, one employee will mainly think of email, another of SharePoint and yet another of an upgrade of the Office packages. Every IT professional knows that this cloud solution (and others) encompasses much more, but not every employee does. Let alone what you can do with it, what the company wants to do with it and what is specifically expected of them.
Make sure that all employees know the possibilities of the (new) solutions they are working with, what the benefits are and also what the expectations are from the organisation. This way, everyone starts from the same point and knows where they need to go. For example, by organising onboarding and functional training, or with the help of change processes or digital coaching.
In short, with remote support, knowledge and training, you can turn your modern workplace into a carefree and successful workplace.
